Adventures in Pekin

We spent last weekend visiting The Husband's family with Bubba. We had a blast and were so happy we were able to introduce Bubba to everyone. We got some great pictures with Great-Grandma Edith, Great-Grandpa Dick, Great Uncle Rusty, Great Aunt Christal, Cousin Reanna, Grandma, Grandpa, and Cousin Leyla. They got to see Bubba smile and hear him "talk". We could definitely see how much they love our little guy even though they're far away :)

Okay, so we're a little biased, but c'mon....look at that face!! By the way, Bubba HATES "Tummy Time" as depicted in the pictures!

2-Month Check Up

Bubba had his 2-month check-up this past Wednesday (March 17th). Everything went very well. He is now 12 pounds 1.5 ounces (55th percentile) and is in the 25-30th percentile for head and length. He got his first round of vaccinations on Friday (March 19th). Mom was with me for both of these appointments...I think getting the shots was harder on me than on Bubba! It was so difficult to watch (and hold) my little guy while he was in such pain! But we got through it with Mima's help and a little Infant Tylenol!

Coos and Bodily Functions

A little video of some Bennett coos. Bennett is SUCH a morning person!! He wakes up in the morning cooing and for about an hour likes to play with Sean and me. He's ALL smiles and coos...then he gets hungry....which leads me to the next video...I know Bennett will hate us when he's older for posting this but it is just TOO funny not to share. It definitely captures what adult-sized bodily functions our little man has. Please excuse my cackling.

Snow Suit

We took Bubba for a walk but it was still a little cold so we put him in his snowsuit. Apparently newborn size isn't the same for every brand....

Some firsts

1) At 2 weeks old, Bubba found the toys above his bouncy seat.
2) Bubba's first bath....he HATED his bath until about 6 weeks.
3) At 1 month, Bubba met Uncle Nick for the first time. Nick flew back home from Seattle, WA just to meet his nephew.
4-5) At 6 weeks old, Bubba woke up cooing and giving us BIG smiles (NOT associated with gas for you cynical ones reading this!)

I was very sick after Bubba was born and he was in the nursery so The Husband ran back and forth between us. He would tape something Bubba was doing in the nursery then run back and show me in between hurls :) We can officially say Bubba drank from a cup before a bottle!

Bubba

Bubba was born on January 14, 2010 at 6:50 PM. He was 7 pounds 12 ounces and 21 inches long. Bubba had a heart arrhythmia before birth so he spent his first night in the nursery. I don't have to tell you how hard that was for The Husband and me. But thankfully we got to take him back to our room with us the next morning. Here are some of the professional pictures we had taken in the hospital as well as some of our personal pics.

My First Blog Ever

Let me start off by saying that I have never been a blogger. I have never really written anything personal online before but I thought that our family members who do not live around the corner might still like to see our little man grow up. Likewise, there are important people to us who live far away who we would like to know Bubba as deeply as they can from further away. That being said, I apologize in advance if this blog A) is Boring B) is Amateur or C) has far too many annoying "First time parent" musings. Deal with it. We love you and want you to share in the sickeningly cute "firsts" of our son!
